Djouce - The Ayling Abyss
The event takes place in Djouce Woods, Old Long Hill Road, Djouce, County Wicklow on Wednesday 8 July 2026. The course is fully marked and GPS use is allowed. The long route has substantial ascent and a changed line this year due to storm damage; the start is at the first V junction on the fire road, about 500 m from the main car park.
Distances:
- Long course: 12.20 km, climb 633 m.
- Short/Junior course: 4.65 km, climb 135 m.
Entry opens 6 July 2026 and closes 8 July 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entry is limited to 200 runners. The event is part of the Leinster League and is rated difficulty 8 (2,3,3) with Moderate Terrain, over 500 m ascent and over 10 km.
Mandatory Level B kit must be carried and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The required items must be brought to the race; random checks may be carried out.
Car parking is at the Long Hill car park (grid ref 0213 131) with a second car park available when the first is full. A nearby car park at Berto's can accommodate about 30 cars. No headphones are allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
