Djouce - The Ayling Abyss
This is a mountain trail event based at Djouce Woods car park on Old Long Hill Road in County Wicklow. The long route is about 12.20 km with 633 m of climb. A short junior course of about 4.65 km has 135 m of climb. The route will differ from previous years because of widespread storm damage and is described as slightly longer than before. The course is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed. The event is listed in the Leinster League and carries an event difficulty rating of 8, noting moderate terrain with more than 500 m ascent and over 10 km distance.
Entries are limited to 200 places and the source notes current entry numbers as 0 of 200 entered. Entry fees are stated as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 6 July 2026 and close Wednesday 8 July 2026.
All runners must register on the night and have their race chip scanned so organisers can account for everyone before and after the race. Mandatory Level B kit is required and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Random kit checks may be carried out and lack of required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
Car parking is limited. The main parking is at the first Djouce Woods car park with a second car park used when the first is full. Car pooling is recommended and a nearby car park by Berto's can accommodate about 30 cars. Prizegiving and a raffle are planned at Berto's Pizzeria where food will be available in the evening.
