Event Overview
The West Side, Best Side Trail Run is the final installment of the annual Dirt Days Trail Series. Located at Shawnee Lookout Hamilton County Park, this event is situated at the southwest corner of Hamilton County. The park sits above the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio Rivers and is noted for its historical landmarks, including a Spring house School, a Log Cabin, and Native American archaeological earthworks.
Course Details
The event features a single distance on a trail surface:
- 3.5 miles (approximately 5.54 km)
The course begins and ends at the Waterhole Meadow Shelter. It utilizes a combination of two lollipop loops formed by the Little Turtle and Blue Jacket nature trails. Participants pass through areas providing views of the Great Miami River and Ohio River valleys. Both runners and walkers are permitted to participate in the event.
Venue and Amenities
Shawnee Lookout offers various facilities including picnic areas, a playground, and boat access to the Great Miami River. Participants may be required to present a valid park pass upon entry; daily passes are available at the park. Following the run, there are age-graded awards and a random prize drawing for those in attendance. Technical shirts may be available for separate purchase through an external vendor.
Registration and Participation
Registration is conducted exclusively online and remains open until the morning of the event. There is no off-site packet pickup available prior to the day of the run. Participants aged 14 and under receive a registration discount. As this is the concluding event of the series, it serves as the final opportunity for competitors to earn points toward the season standings.
