Event overview

The DINO trail run takes place at Muscatatuck County Park in North Vernon, Indiana. The event uses the park trail system and runs near a river valley. Course options are 15K and 5K. The course rating is Hills 4 and Surface 3 on a 1-5 scale. GPX files and course maps are provided and participants are asked to follow course markings.

Logistics and additional activities

Entry fees are listed as 5K = $30, 15K = $35, day-of entry adds $5 or more, and the kids race is free. Festival-style camping is available around Shelter 4 for $5 per person per night; designated campsites can be reserved through the park. Restrooms are within walking distance of the main event site. Playground and splash pad are near the field.

DINO runs multiple mountain bike events Saturday afternoon and Sunday, including downhill and short-track formats. Two guided kayak shuttle trips run Saturday evening; Trip 1 is about 3 miles and Trip 2 is about 2.5 miles. Each kayak trip takes a little over an hour at a leisurely pace depending on water level. Kayak trip fee is $25 per trip.

Rules and awards

Race rules require visible race numbers, no headphones, and no dogs. Participants must follow the marked trail and be courteous when passing. There is no set time limit, but participants taking longer than 2 1/4 hours may miss awards or experience limited services.
