Course and logistics
The course is an approximately 9.75 mile / 15.7 km loop through old growth forest and returns to the Start/Finish at Owen Beach each lap. The 15K and each relay member complete one loop, the 30K is two loops, and the 50K is three loops. Each loop has about 1,306 feet of elevation gain and loss. Terrain is mostly single track with some hills and is described as about 95% run-able; the route offers views of the Puget Sound and passes 500-year-old cedars and firs.
Aid is available at the Start/Finish and at a Fort Nisqually aid station roughly 5.3 miles into the loop; water, electrolyte, food, and fixed restrooms are provided at stations and medical personnel are present at Start/Finish. A time limit of eight hours applies and a cutoff is enforced for starting the third loop. Packet pickup is available before race day at Central Co-Op in Tacoma and on race morning; packets include a race bib with timing chip and a gear check tag. Limited parking is available at Owen Beach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
