Defiance 50K
The Defiance event is a trail race held at Point Defiance Park with a looped course that starts and finishes at Owen Beach. The loop measures 10.3 miles / 16.6 km and passes through old growth forest with large cedars and firs and multiple viewpoints of Puget Sound. Elevation gain and loss per loop is 1,306 feet. The course is mostly single track and is reported to be dry in mid-October; organizers state it is about 95% run-able.
Aid and support are available on each loop at the Start/Finish area and at an aid station near Fort Nisqually about 5.3 miles into the loop. Water, electrolyte, food, and fixed bathrooms are provided at water stations, and medical personnel are located at the Start/Finish area. Runners are advised to carry one bottle of water.

Registration includes a finisher medal, a tech shirt (guarantee by ordering by 9/14), and a collective bib; a longsleeve shirt is provided to participants. Packet pickup is available at Central Co-Op in Tacoma with additional day-of pickup at the event. Entry fees are non-refundable with no transfers or rollovers. A portion of proceeds supports the Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County. Course files and results are available for download and post-race publication of photos.
