Defiance 50K at Point Defiance Park
The Defiance event offers trail distances that use a single 10.3 mile / 16.6 km loop through Point Defiance Park, a more than 700 acre area of old growth forest and shoreline views of Puget Sound. The loop passes ancient cedars and firs, includes a Gig Harbor viewpoint, and returns through the Start/Finish area at Owen Beach.

- 30K : two loops
- 15K : one loop
- 3-person 50K relay : each runner completes one loop
The course is mostly single track, typically dry in mid-October, and noted as about 95% run-able. Elevation gain and loss per loop is 1,306 feet. Aid is available at the Start/Finish and at a Fort Nisqually station roughly 5.3 miles into the loop; water, electrolyte, food, and fixed restrooms are provided at water stations. Medical personnel are assigned to the Start/Finish area. Runners are advised to carry one bottle of water.
Registration includes a finisher medal, a tech long sleeve shirt (size guaranteed if ordered by September 14), a collective bib, and optional hoodie purchase. Entry fees are non refundable and minors require a guardian signed waiver. A portion of proceeds supports the Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County.
