Defeat Myeloma

The Defeat Myeloma event is a family-oriented run and walk held at Magnuson Park in Seattle. This hybrid event provides multiple ways for participants to support multiple myeloma cancer research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. All proceeds from registration fees go directly toward funding research efforts.

Participants can choose from the following event options:

  • 5K
  • 1 mile
  • 500m Kids Dash
  • Virtual option (any distance)

The in-person course is fully supported and includes a water station at the halfway mark of the 5K route, with additional water and snacks available at the finish line. The event is open to various participants; strollers and well-behaved dogs on short leashes are permitted, though these participants are asked to line up at the back of the starting area. There is no time limit for the course, and the event remains open until the final participant finishes.

Registrants receive a custom race bib, safety pins, and a sticker. In-person participants also receive a gender-specific race shirt, though size selection is only guaranteed for those who register by June 10. Virtual participants who register by June 19 will have their packets shipped to them. Registration is free for multiple myeloma patients and survivors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
