Event overview
The Deck the Heels 5K Night Run is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Altavista, Virginia. The event is held annually on the second Saturday of December. It includes the following distance options:

- 5K (Virtual)
The event supports the Claire Parker Foundation, which provides care and emotional support for children and families battling pediatric cancer. Glow-in-the-dark accessories will be available at packet pickup. Long-sleeve, unisex T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by November 22 at 11:59 PM.
Course and logistics
The in-person course starts at the corner of Broad Street and Main Street in Altavista, proceeds north on Main Street to a turnaround at Main and Lola Avenue, continues south across the river into Hurt, VA through a tunnel, turns around at the stoplight by English Construction in Hurt, and returns to finish at Broad Street and Main Street. Virtual participants may choose a 5K course anywhere and submit their time to the results page.
Packet pickup is at the Booker Building, 400 Broad St, Altavista, VA: Friday, December 12 (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM) and Saturday, December 13 (3:00 PM - 4:30 PM). Registration pricing varies by date: $25, $30, $35, and $40 tiers are listed with higher fees applying closer to race day. Finisher medals are awarded to all finishers. Assisted participants must register both the person being assisted and the pusher; assisted entries are ranked separately. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
