About the race
The Canadian Death Race takes place in Grande Cache, Alberta on July 31 to August 1, 2027. The event offers multiple entry formats over mountainous terrain in the Canadian Rockies.

The ultra course begins and ends on a 4,200 foot plateau and passes over three mountain summits. The ultra includes a major river crossing at Hell's Gate canyon at the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers. Elevation change is listed as 5,181 m (approximately 17,000 ft) for the ultra and 2,132 m (approximately 6,995 ft) for the marathon. Time limits are published as 24 hours for the ultra and 9.5 hours for the marathon.
The event is listed as a qualifier for Western States, Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, and Trail Sisters. Registration is capped at 1,000 racers with allocations for solo spots, the Near Death Marathon, and relays; solo entries include reserved spots until March 15. Registration opens October 10 and the deadline is July 18 or when full.
Support crews are not required but are recommended for solo runners. Aid stations (checkpoints) are located throughout the course with varying supplies; runners may not cache gear at checkpoints.
