Dash for Domestic Violence Awareness 5K

The Dash for Domestic Violence Awareness 5K is an annual community event held at Alexander Park in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Now in its fourth year, the event serves to raise awareness and support for agencies involved in the fight against domestic violence. Proceeds from the race benefit organizations including Mosaic Georgia, the Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), and Ahimsa House, which provide services ranging from crisis shelter to pet safety for survivors.

The event features a single primary distance:

  • 5K

The course is described as fairly flat and takes participants through scenic areas of Alexander Park on a mix of paths and roads. The route runs alongside a lake and over a dam, returning to finish at the same location as the start. There is a restroom facility located along the course for participant convenience. This course is USATF certified and has previously served as a qualifying event for the Peachtree Road Race.

The event is open to individual runners and groups. Awards are presented in the overall male and female categories, as well as for the top three finishers in several age groups ranging from 10 and under to 60 and over. Participant amenities include provided hydration and snacks, and a race t-shirt is guaranteed for those who register by the specified deadline in late September.
