Danny Ray Sanchez Memorial 5K Run / Walk & 1 Mile Walk
The event is the 16th annual memorial run offering in-person and virtual options on September 5, 2026, at Montwood High School, 12000 Montwood, El Paso, TX 79936. Distances available include:
- 3.1 miles (5K) in person and virtual
- 1 mile in person and virtual
Individual registration is $30. A referral program offers a $5 refund when five friends register using a referral code; an additional $5 refund is available if five more friends register. The referral offer expires at midnight on September 2, 2026. Registration fees are non-refundable. Virtual registrations for the virtual events close on August 26, 2026; in-person registration remains open through September 5, 2026.
Packet pickup takes place Friday, September 4, 2026, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Up and Running, 3233 N. Mesa Ste. 205. Race day packet pickup is available at the start line from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Packets can be mailed to virtual participants for an additional $10; mailed packets begin shipping on September 12, 2026. Virtual participants may post results from September 5, 2026 to September 15, 2026.
The first 300 registrants receive a race T-shirt. There is an award for the largest team. Medals are awarded to the top three 5K finishers in each age category from 14 and under through 80 plus. Proceeds benefit the memorial. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
