Run for local animal welfare
The Crow's Nest Run for the Rescues 5K is an athletic event held in Ashtabula, Ohio. The race follows a 5K course that begins and ends at The Crow's Nest at 1257 Harmon Road. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing representing professional football rivalries, specifically the Cleveland Browns or Pittsburgh Steelers, while supporting the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League (ACAPL).
Income from the race supports the ACAPL, a nonprofit shelter that provides temporary housing for pets and promotes animal education and spay/neuter programs. After completing the distance, participants aged 21 and over receive a complimentary beer as part of the post-race gathering at the host location.
The event recognizes top finishers across various categories:
- 5K (Overall male and female champions and age group placements)
Awards include trophies for the overall winners and custom medals for the top three finishers in several age divisions. These divisions range from 14 and under through 70 and over, with five-year increments provided for adult participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
