Crown of the Crest
Crown of the Crest is a trail running event held at Calvin Crest Camp Conference & Retreat Center near Fremont, Nebraska. The course runs on bluffs above the Platte River and uses single-track and double-track dirt trails through cedar woods and bluffs.
Distances offered include:
- 100-mile
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Lucky 13 (13-hour run)
- Half marathon (13.1 miles)
- Double Crown (Marathon plus Half Marathon)
The typical loop measures approximately 10 miles. Each loop has about 900 feet of elevation gain and reaches a maximum elevation near 1,400 feet. The trail starts near the top of the bluff and features steep climbs, switchbacks, roots, and sections that can be technical. The route will be marked with directional arrows, orange tape, and ground markings.
There is a fully stocked aid station at the start/finish and another at about 4.5 miles, both supplying water. Runners may use drop bags stored inside the lodge, and a personal hydration device is required. Nutrition will be provided but participants may bring specific items in drop bags.
Race day packet pickup is used and a prerace briefing is held before each race. Pacers are permitted under event rules for multi-stage distances. Registration is capped at 150 runners. Proceeds support trails and facilities at Calvin Crest. Alcohol and smoking are not allowed on the property. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
