Event
Crown of the Crest is a multi-distance trail event held at Calvin Crest near Fremont, Nebraska (2870 County Road 13). Distances offered include:
- 100 Mile
- Double Crown - full marathon plus half marathon on separate days
- 26.2 Mile
- Crown Half Marathon
- Lucky 13 - a timed 13-hour loop event
The event is organized by the Greater Omaha Area Trail Runnerz (GOATz). Runners receive event swag and winners receive the Crown of the Crest awards for specified distances.
Course and logistics
The course is a single-track loop of approximately 10 miles per loop on the bluffs of the Platte River. Each loop has about 900 feet of elevation gain and a maximum elevation near 1,400 feet. Trails include switchbacks, roots, and technical sections; some climbs are steep and roller coaster-like. Aid is provided from a fully staffed aid station at the Start/Finish and an unmanned water stop on course that is passed twice each loop. Drop bags are allowed. Pacers are permitted for 100-mile entrants after 50 miles of the course are complete. Calvin Crest is an alcohol-free and no-smoking facility; violations may result in removal or disqualification.
