Cureageous 5K Fun Run at Cross Creek West
The Cureageous 5K Fun Run is a community running and walking event in Cross Creek West that benefits the IBC Network Foundation, which raises awareness of inflammatory breast cancer and funds research. The event is a non-competitive 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) fun run or walk and is described as family-friendly and open to a range of participants.
The event features participant amenities including a race day T-shirt, a participation medal, a runner’s bib, water stations at the start, mid-point, and finish, post-race refreshments, and a photo booth. Additional on-site activities include face painting, a DJ, yard games, and food trucks offering healthy street eats for purchase. Parking is provided at Haygood Elementary with shuttle golf carts available to transport people from parking to the event space if assistance is needed.
Registration can be completed onsite on the morning of the race for a stated fee of $45; same-day onsite registration does not guarantee a race medal. The Fun Run is not timed, strollers are allowed on the course, and well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome. The event materials note that participants accept and assume all risks for injury or damage and release the event sponsor and its affiliates from related claims and liabilities.
The event highlights the color pink to honor survivors and fighters and includes information about inflammatory breast cancer, which can be aggressive and harder to detect than other breast cancers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
