Participant information and course access
Registrations and the waitlist are closed. Organiser updates for 2026 include a new information booklet, new timing cards, and the removal of the compass from compulsory gear. A live mandatory briefing will be held in 2026; participants are advised the briefing contains updated event information.
An interactive course map and an Avenza mobile map are available for the route. Training or running on the Overland Track is subject to permit-season restrictions. From 1 October to 31 May there are limits on day-pass access and some route sections; longer distances during that period require an Overland Track Permit. From 1 June to 30 September, runners with a National Parks pass usually may run in either direction any distance. Participants should follow Parks and Wildlife Service guidelines for Access and Permits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
