Cradle Mountain Run: event details
The 2026 Cradle Mountain Run will be held on 7 February 2026. The course distance is 78 km through Tasmania's wilderness. Entries will open on Sunday 12 October at 8pm Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.
A mandatory live briefing was held in 2025. Pre-recorded briefings and a Parks and Wildlife Service ranger briefing from earlier years are listed as reference. Race documents for 2025 include an information pack, a compulsory gear list, and a timetable.

Training on the Overland Track during permit season is restricted. Permit season runs from 1 October to 31 May; during that period day-pass runners are allowed only to Waterfall Valley from the North, to Pelion Gap and Mt Ossa from the Arm River Track, and to the Pine Valley turn off from the South. Longer distances during permit season require an Overland Track Permit. From 1 June to 30 September runners with a National Parks pass usually may run in either direction any distance.
