About the race
The Course de l'Escalade is a multi-day running event in the Canton of Geneva held on the first or second weekend of December; the 2026 edition takes place on 5 and 6 December. In 2025 the event brought together more than 59,000 participants, making it one of the largest running events in the region.
The event combines two stated aims. First, it presents a popular and welcoming mass-participation programme intended to promote the health benefits of regular physical activity to the general public. Second, it offers high-level competition that attracts national and international elite runners and provides a sporting spectacle.
A wide range of race formats and categories takes place across the weekend, including races for schools, youth categories, veteran age groups, walking events, family relays, and elite races. One of the listed distances is 4.82 km, with elevation gain of +102 m and loss of -111 m. Public institutions, sponsors, schools and clubs participate alongside organisers to emphasise values stated by the event: joy, respect, solidarity, integration and excellence.
