Event Overview

The Copythorne Carnival Run is a community athletics event based at the Copythorne Scout HQ. The race takes place on local roads and follows a route through the village. Entrants can choose between two primary distances:

  • 5 km (one lap of the course)
  • 10 km (two laps of the course)

Participants receive real-time chip timing to track their results and a bespoke medal upon crossing the finish line. Live music is provided during the event. All proceeds from the race are donated to support Scouting activities within the local community.

Course and Logistics

The route utilizes several local roads, including Romsey Road, Pollards Moor Road, Winsor Road, and Barrow Hill Road. A short out-and-back section on Winsor Road is included to ensure accurate distance measurement. Water is provided at a station along the route and at the finish line, where runners are encouraged to refill their own bottles to reduce plastic waste.

On-site facilities include a barbecue operated by Explorer Scouts offering food and a barista serving hot drinks. A retail partner is present at the venue and provides runner bibs and prizes. Parking is located at the Copythorne Parish Hall, approximately a 10-minute walk from the start area.

Participation Details

The event is open to families and children, though participants under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult entrant during the run. Registered runners have the option to purchase a technical race t-shirt featuring a design inspired by steam-powered traction engines. Race numbers can be collected on the evening of the event or at designated locations during the preceding weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
