The Cook Forest 25K Trail Challenge is a trail race held in Cook Forest State Park. The event, established in 2018, is centered on a single loop that links thirteen interconnected trails and showcases riverfront sections and old-growth evergreen stands.
The route includes a steep ascent on Seneca Trail to the Cook Forest Fire Tower, river-side running along the Clarion River, and shaded paths on Tom’s Run. The course moves through a variety of natural terrain and forested settings.
Three aid stations are positioned along the route and are staffed by local high school cross country teams; these stations provide hydration and nutrition. Packet pickup and day-of registration are at Shelter 2, with the start/finish and packet pickup location listed as 2604 Forest Rd., Vowinckel, PA 16233 (GPS 41.34609 N, 79.21845 W).
Registration is handled through UltraSignup. Lodging options mentioned include nearby cabins, campsites, and local inns. Organizers are local runners and volunteers connected to the park. Weather in the forest can vary, so participants are advised to prepare for both sun and shade and to dress in layers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
