Event Overview
The Connecting Compton Relay Race is a community-based, 13.45-mile team relay. Teams consist of four members who pass a baton at designated exchange zones across Compton. The event is unsanctioned and takes place on open roads without street closures, so participants should be comfortable running or walking on sidewalks and streets with traffic.
Event Details
The race takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The start and finish location is the Compton VFW parking area at 303 E Palmer St in Compton, California. Parking is available on the street.
The relay consists of four legs, forming a looped route through various parts of the city. The legs are:
- Leg 1: Approximately 3.21 miles from the VFW to Centennial High School.
- Leg 2: Approximately 3.16 miles from Centennial High School to Compton High School.
- Leg 3: Approximately 3.45 miles from Compton High School to a McDonald's location.
- Leg 4: Approximately 3.65 miles from McDonald's back to the VFW.
Registration and Participation
Team registration costs $128.20 total. Teams can be men's, women's, or co-ed; co-ed teams must have two women and two men. The team captain registers the entire team and must bring signed waivers for all members to packet pickup.
Packet pickup is scheduled at two times: at Compton Airport on Saturday, February 21, 2026, and at Centennial High School on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Registration includes a custom race bib and baton, a T-shirt, a finisher medal for each participant, race photos, and post-race refreshments and music at the VFW finish line celebration zone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
