Connecting Compton Relay Race : Event description
The Connecting Compton Relay is a community relay held in Compton, California on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The event covers 13.3 miles and uses a 4-person team relay format. Each team member carries a baton and exchanges it with teammates at staffed exchange zones along a looped route that passes local parks, schools, and neighborhoods.
The course does not include street closures. Participants should have experience running or walking on sidewalks and streets with traffic. The start and finish are located at Wilson Park, 123 N Rose Ave, Compton, CA 90221. Parking is available on-street and at Dollarhide Community Center, 301 N Tamarind Ave, Compton.
Course legs and approximate distances:
- Leg 1: Wilson Park to Centennial High School - approx. 3.27 miles
- Leg 2: Centennial High School to Compton High School - approx. 3.12 miles
- Leg 3: Compton High School to McDonald’s on Alondra - approx. 3.36 miles
- Leg 4: McDonald’s back to Wilson Park - approx. 3.55 miles
Teams compete in Men's, Women's, and Co-ed categories. Race packets include a custom bib and baton, a t-shirt, a finisher medal, and race photos. Packet pickup is scheduled for February 19 and February 21 at designated locations. Post-race food and music take place at Wilson Park and a Finish Line Celebration Zone is provided.
