Coldwater In Your Veins is a Last Person Standing running event held at the Horse Corral at Coldwater Canyon in North Ogden, UT. The course is a loop of 7.7 miles with about 1,200 feet of vertical gain and loss. Runners must complete each loop within the allotted two hour interval to remain in the race.
Race rules require at least two runners to start each loop for the event to continue. A runner who is not in the runners corral by the next loop start is disqualified. The final winner must complete the last loop that the second place runner does not complete. If only one runner finishes a loop while others drop, that runner may be declared the winner but is not allowed to continue alone.
The event uses the same location for start and finish and provides a pavilion, bathrooms with running water, and a 10 by 10 foot spot in the horse arena for tents, canopies, or small crew aid stations. Organizers will supply water, electrolyte drinks, and some snacks at the pavilion, but participants and crews are advised to bring any specific items they need.
The site can be windy and the ground is soft and sandy, so weights for canopies are recommended because stakes are unlikely to hold. Goathead thorns have been reported in the area, and crews commonly use the parking lot and pavilion areas for camping. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
