Colby Mountain Trailfest
Colby Mountain Trailfest is a grassroots trail running event in Butte Meadows, California on September 5, 2026. Organizers include Butte County Sheriff Search & Rescue, Chico Velo TrailWorks, and Bidwell Run Club. Net proceeds are split equally to benefit those three organizations and support trail development, maintenance, and stewardship.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 5k (3.1 miles / 100 ft) 90% fire road 10% single track
- 12k (7.5 miles / 700 ft climbing) 60% fire road 40% single track
- 24k (15.5 miles / 1900 ft climbing) 25% fire road 75% single track
Aid stations are fully stocked with electrolytes and food. Listed aid station locations include Mile 1.3 Colby Meadow Chowdown, Mile 4 The Hub, and Mile 8.7 Escape Eats and Elixirs. Route maps are provided and GPX files will be posted soon.
Registered runners receive a T-shirt, medal, and a HydraPak Speed cup. Awards are given to the top three men and top three women, with additional top three age-group awards. A post-race party is planned.
Lodging in the immediate area is limited; nearby cabins, RV hookups, and campgrounds are available. The nearest hotels are in Chico, about 45 minutes away by car. Early bird pricing is available through August 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
