Coastal Plains Relay
The Coastal Plains Relay is a multi-division 75 mile course held in July 2026 in southeast Texas. The route covers roughly 75 miles along scenic backroads between the Katy/Richmond area and Surfside Beach, Texas, and finishes on the beach at Surfside Beach. The event is presented as the fourth annual running of the relay.
There are two participant divisions. The Running Division accepts teams of up to 10 runners who alternate legs of the course. The Rucking Division accepts teams of up to 6 participants who carry a rucksack while rotating through course segments. The rucking division requires a minimum pack weight of 30 pounds for participants weighing more than 150 pounds, and 20 pounds for participants weighing less than 150 pounds; this weight includes the rucksack itself and any added weight. Weigh-ins occur at the start and finish, and official staff may perform additional weight checks along the course.
Registration opens January 7, 2026 and closes May 1, 2026. The registration fee is $40. The event description notes a post-finish tailgate celebration for participants and accompanying guests. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
