About the race
The Coastal Classic Run and Walk events take place at Taieri Mouth, using Livingstonia Park as the event hub. Courses run over gravel road, farm paddocks, coastal tracks, beaches and wetlands, including a separate course across privately owned farmland that is open to participants for this annual event.
Distances offered:
- 5 km Harraways Family Fun Run/Walk and Under 14 Beach Race
- 12 km NZ SAFETY Blackwoods Moturata Views Recreational Walk
- 12 km Unifone Craypot Run
- 21 km Smiths Sports Shoes Akatore Challenge Run
Runners are timed and receive category and overall placings; place getters in each category are acknowledged and all participants are eligible for spot prizes. The 5 km options include a short scenic beach section and a family-friendly course; the Under 14 Beach Race has a minimum age of 10. The 21 km race has a minimum age of 14; entries below minimum age may be considered with adult consent and at the event committee’s discretion.
Event entry fees vary by event, with examples including $5 for the Under 14 5 km race, $15 per adult for the 5 km family walk, and $40 for each 12 km or 21 km entry. Participants can stop at the Seascape Cafe, where complimentary coffee or tea with a muffin is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
