Coast Guard Marathon Weekend in Elizabeth City, North Carolina
The Coast Guard Marathon is a multi day event in April 2027 that includes in person race weekend activities in Elizabeth City and a virtual race window from April 1 to April 30, 2027. The in person weekend takes place April 2 to April 4, 2027 in the city officially designated as a Coast Guard City.
Race options include:
- 26.2 miles marathon
- 13.1 miles half marathon
- 3.1 miles 5K
- 0.62 miles 1K Kids Fun Run Additional options include Semper Paratus challenge distances that combine the 5K with either the marathon or half marathon, and junior and virtual race options.
The course is described as flat and Boston Qualifier eligible, and it routes through waterfront streets, historic neighborhoods, the Coast Guard airstrip, and around the Blimp Hanger at U.S. Coast Guard Base Elizabeth City unless mission, security, or other events require changes. Access to the base runway requires background checks; the last day to register for the in person half marathon, full marathon, and Semper Paratus challenges is March 15, 2027 for that reason.
Event weekend features listed include a two day expo, a pasta luncheon, a family festival, a welcome concert, and a finish line festival. An Armed Forces Series Challenge is available that awards a special challenge medal for completing signature races across the six military branches.
