The event takes place on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Memorial Park on Harrington Avenue in Closter, New Jersey. It is the 45th annual edition of the race, held on the traditional Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
Events
The event consists of two separate activities:
- Dom Mircovich Memorial Closter 5K Run/Walk: A timed 5K race open to runners and walkers.
- Jim O'Halloran Kids Fun Run: A non-competitive run for children aged 12 and under, covering a distance of approximately 1K.
Course Information
The 5K course is USATF certified (NJ24017JLW). It is described as mostly flat and goes through parks, neighborhoods, and the town center. The race features electronic timing, multiple water stops, and is held rain or shine, though it may be canceled for lightning.
Awards and Amenities
Awards are given for the 5K. These include overall top three male and female finishers, awards in five-year age groups from 10 & under to 80+, and prizes for the fastest male and female Closter residents. The first three parent-child teams also receive awards. Participants are only eligible for their highest award.
Registered participants may receive amenities. For the 5K, the first 225 registrants get a moisture-wicking T-shirt. For the Kids Fun Run, the first 50 registrants receive a T-shirt and bib, with trophies for the top five boys and girls and ribbons for all participants. Post-event refreshments are provided for both events.
Registration
Online registration is preferred, with limited same-day registration available. An early bib pickup option is offered on a prior Saturday at a location in River Vale, NJ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
