Event overview

The Clear Lake Triathlon is scheduled for June 6, 2026 at Clear Lake Beach and Pub in Fremont, Indiana. The event is USAT sanctioned and limited to 600 total racers. Participants must be at least 13 years old by December 31, 2026. Race-day packet pickup and on-site registration are available. All participants receive a race t-shirt, all finishers receive a medal, and awards are given for age groups, overall, and masters. The event uses professional chip timing with split results.

Distances

  • Sprint Triathlon: 500 yard swim; 12 mile bike; 3.1 mile run
  • Olympic Triathlon: 1500 meter swim; 25 mile bike; 6.2 mile run
  • Sprint Duathlon: 1 mile run start
  • Olympic Duathlon: 3.1 mile run start

Course and race operations

The swim is a lake swim in Clear Lake with a beach time-trial style start and buoys marking turns. The sprint is a single lap swim; the Olympic is two laps with a beach exit and re-entry between laps. Wetsuit policies follow USAT rules: wetsuits allowed up to 78 degrees, allowed with award ineligibility between 78.1 and 84 degrees, and prohibited above 84 degrees.

The bike course uses smooth county roads with rolling hills and marked turns; sheriffs will staff needed intersections. There are no aid stations on the bike course. The run is an out-and-back on flat paved town roads with aid stations roughly every mile offering water, Gatorade, and Coke.

Transition is on grass near the road, with volunteers assisting bike racking (maximum eight bikes per rack). Only participants and volunteers may enter transition. Timing chips with soft neoprene ankle straps are distributed at packet pickup and must be worn. Parking is on site within a short walk of the swim and transition. Contingency plans may convert the event to duathlon, bike-only, run-only, or cancellation depending on safety conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
