3rd Annual Clean Atoms for Healthy Cells 5K
The American Nuclear Society - Mississippi Section hosts the 3rd annual Clean Atoms for Healthy Cells 5K at Flowood Nature Park in Flowood, MS on October 31, 2026. The event includes a 5K run, a 5K walk, and a 1K kids fun run and is supported by Entergy, US Women in Nuclear (US-WIN), North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN), and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
The event aims to raise awareness about the benefits of nuclear energy for the environment and to fund scholarships. One hundred percent of registration fees and additional donations go directly to a scholarship fund for graduating high school seniors who plan to study science, technology, business, or policy related to nuclear energy at two- or four-year colleges.
A nuclear energy themed art competition for 3rd to 5th graders at North Jackson Elementary School selects the winning design for a special edition event T-shirt. All registrants receive the T-shirt featuring the winning artwork, and student submissions are displayed at the event and on the host organization website.
Distances and basic fees:
- 5K Run : $40
- 5K Walk : $40
- 1K Kids Fun Run : free for ages 6 to 12
