Chile Pepper Challenge Charity Ride and 5K Walk/Run
The Chile Pepper Challenge Charity Ride and 5K Walk/Run is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Grace Gardens, 6709 Westside Dr., El Paso, Texas 79932. The event is hosted by the El Paso Bicycle Club and benefits the University Medical Center Foundation of El Paso.
The cycling program includes four supported routes that travel the Upper and Mesilla Valleys. Rides provide rest stops, route markings and SAG vehicles, with rest stops placed at roughly every 15 miles. A 5K walk/run has been added this year to encourage family participation. Age groups for the walk and run are 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 to 79.
Proceeds support UMCs Cardiac Care Fund, which funds awareness, early screenings and treatments for heart disease and stroke, conditions noted as having disproportionate impact on Hispanic communities in the border region.
Registration is open during a summer to early fall window. Entry fees are listed by distance and category and no same day registration is available. Registration includes a participant number, T shirts for the first 500 registrations, a finisher medal and post ride food and beverage. Packet pick up is available at several local bike shops and retailers including Trek El Paso, Podium Finish, Crazy Cat Cyclery, El Paso Vintage Bicycle, La Wheela Bike Shop and Restaurant Bar, Desert Fox Cyclery and Border Bicycle, with day of event operations at Grace Gardens.
