Chester 4th of July Fun Run
The Chester 4th of July Fun Run is an annual community event organized by the Almanor Recreation and Park District. This event takes place on July 4 in Chester, California, and serves as the district's largest fundraising activity. The proceeds from the run support local programs, public trails, and various park improvement projects.
The event features a single distance:
- 1 mile
The course is a point-to-point route through historic areas of the town. Participants start the 1 mile run or walk on the Collins Pine lawn at 500 Main Street. The path continues directly down Chester’s historic Main Street, concluding at the Bidwell House located at 1 Main Street. Refreshments are provided for participants at the finish line.
The event is part of a larger local celebration of Independence Day. Following the run, a craft fair is held at Chester Park and a parade takes place along Main Street. The run is open to participants of all ages and abilities, and attendees are encouraged to wear costumes or themed colors. The first 400 registrants receive a commemorative T-shirt. Packet pickup is available both the day before the event and on the morning of the run at the starting location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
