Chasing Memphis - Legacy Run
The Chasing Memphis - Legacy Run is a community athletic event held in the Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park. This race commemorates the life of Memphis Peralta, a student who participated in the REACH program and attended Regis High School. The event functions as a fundraiser to support the Memphis Legacy Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to academically gifted boys from low-income or under-resourced communities in New York City.
Participants can choose from different event formats based on their preferences. The distances available include:
- 5K running race
- 1 Mile kids and family fun walk
The event takes place at 6087C Broadway. Registration for these events typically occurs in the months leading up to the May race date. The proceeds are dedicated to supporting young men who demonstrate intelligence and resilience, helping them access educational opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable due to financial constraints.
