Course and logistics

The primary loop is about 10.3 miles and is run mostly on dirt trails, with roughly 870 feet of elevation gain per lap and minimal technical difficulty. The course is marked with flags, reflective tape, signs, and spray chalk. All participants are required to carry a headlamp or handheld light source for night running.

Two aid stations support the course: Outlaw (around mile 4.3) and the Start/Finish (around mile 10.3). Aid station offerings include water, Tailwind endurance fuel, soda, sweet and salty snacks, watermelon, oranges, bananas, bean rollups, and PB&J, plus Kleenex, bug repellant, and Vaseline. Port-o-potties are available at both stations.

Crew support is allowed only at the Start/Finish area. Pacers are not permitted. Relay exchanges must occur at the Start/Finish. Drop bags and a designated crew area are provided at the Start/Finish.

Safety, awards and rules

Medical staff and a medical tent are located at the Start/Finish; Outlaw aid will carry basic first-aid supplies. Runners must respect wildlife; rattlesnakes have been observed on course. The race continues in most weather conditions except hazardous events such as severe lightning. Solo runners reaching 50K receive a glow-in-the-dark finisher medal; solo 100K finishers receive a glow-in-the-dark belt buckle. Relay team members receive glow-in-the-dark finisher medals. Podium awards are given for solo and team categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
