Chapel Tri Aquathlon
The Chapel Tri Aquathlon is a sanctioned British Triathlon event held at the Hamble Sports Complex in Southampton. This event forms part of the South Central Junior Triathlon Series, providing athletes with a pathway for selection to the Inter Regional Championships. The competition is designed for young athletes across various age groups, ranging from 7 to 18 years old.
The event features a pool-based swim followed by a run. The transition area is located immediately outside the pool entrance in a secure area. Participants then proceed to a run course situated on the school playing field. The layout of the venue is compact, with all sections of the event, including the car park and finish line, located within 100 meters of each other.
Available categories and distances include:
- Tristarts (Ages 7-8): 60m swim and 600m run
- T1 (Ages 9-10): 160m swim and 1.2km run
- T2 (Ages 11-12): 200m swim and 1.8km run
- T3 (Ages 13-14): 300m swim and 2.4km run
- Youth (Ages 15-16): 400m swim and 3.6km run
- Junior (Ages 17-18): 400m swim and 4.2km run
The event utilizes electronic chip timing to record results. Participants who are not members of British Triathlon are required to obtain a Race Pass to compete. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal produced specifically for this event. Facilities on-site include a car park and refreshment stations for spectators.
