2nd Chance Run - Houston (September 19, 2026)
The 2nd Chance Run - Houston is a fundraising and awareness event held on September 19, 2026 at Willow Waterhole Greenway, 5300 Dryad Dr, Houston, TX 77035. LifeGift organizes the event to honor organ, eye, and tissue donors across 109 Texas counties and to raise funds and awareness for donation and transplantation.
The event is offered in person at Willow Waterhole Greenway and as a virtual option. Distances available:
- 5K in person or virtual
- 1 Mile in person or virtual
Registrations include a custom event t-shirt, a custom 2nd Chance Run medal, a race bib and timing chip for in-person races, a race swag bag, and entry to the race village. Packet pick-up is available the day before at a LifeGift location.
Fundraising supports race logistics and additional programs such as donor family and recipient meetings and donor memorials. Current fundraising shows $2,612.29 raised toward a $20,000.00 goal. Donor remembrance yard signs are provided at no charge and can be decorated and placed along the course.
Teams are encouraged; teams with five or more in-person members receive a $2.00 refund per member, with youth members excluded from the discount. Volunteer roles include water station support, medal distribution, event set-up and breakdown, registration and check-in support, course guides and cheer stations, and general event support.
