CHAMP 5K Run/Walk
The CHAMP 5K Run/Walk is an annual regional event held in Tempe, Arizona, at Kiwanis Park. Taking place during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the event serves as a collaborative effort to raise awareness and provide resources for families affected by life-threatening illnesses. The gathering is designed as a family event that brings together the community to support organizations serving the childhood cancer population.
Participants can choose from multiple event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 0.5 Mile CHAMPION Walk (Cancer Survivors' Walk)
- Virtual 5K
The course is located at the North Soccer Field within Kiwanis Park. All registered participants receive a technical shirt, a timing bib, and a finisher medal. In addition to the athletic events, the site hosts a booth fair featuring activities, a raffle, and a silent auction. The day includes an opening ceremony and a post-race breakfast for participants.
A central element of the event is the CHAMPION Walk, where the community recognizes and cheers for children currently in treatment, those in remission, and families walking in honor of loved ones. Proceeds from the event support initiatives such as on-treatment weekend retreats for families of children diagnosed with cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
