CHAMP 5K Run/Walk
The CHAMP 5K Run/Walk is an annual community event held in September to raise awareness for childhood cancer and to support local pediatric cancer organizations. The event takes place at Kiwanis Park North Soccer Field in Tempe, Arizona, and brings together more than 2,000 attendees and over 28 nonprofit organizations. All proceeds are distributed to participating local nonprofits that support children with cancer and their families.
The event program includes a timed 5K run and walk, a short CHAMPION Walk that celebrates children on treatment and in remission and honors those who have passed, a pancake breakfast included with registration, exhibitors, vendors, a raffle and silent auction, and on-site activities such as blood and bone marrow drives. The Carry a Bead program runs on race morning through the Beads of Courage booth. Be the Match and other partners may be onsite for donor registration and screening.
Registered participants receive a custom tech shirt, finishing medal, bib and official timing. Awards are given to the first three overall male and female finishers and to top finishers in standard age categories. Packet pickup is available at Roadrunner Sports in Tempe on the Wednesday and Thursday before the event. Parking for general attendees is along Ash Avenue north of the field; CHAMPION families have access to the Kiwanis Park parking lot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
