Event Overview
The Cavanal Killer 8k is a running and walking event scheduled for May 9, 2026. This will be the 19th annual edition of the race, which is held in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Course
The event features a single 8k (5 mile) route. It is a one-way course that goes from the start at Poteau Primary School to the top of Cavanal Hill, which has an elevation of 1999 feet. The course is USATF-certified. A shuttle transports participants back down from the finish line. There are several aid stations along the route.
Registration and Details
The online registration fee is $35 until April 1, 2026, and increases to $40 after that date. Participants who register by April 18 are guaranteed a T-shirt. All finishers receive a medal. Refreshments, including fruit, snacks, hot food, and drinks, are available at the finish area. Early packet pickup is available on the two days before the event at a specified location in Poteau.
