- 12-ish miles for the Kitty Run
Course and logistics
The course uses Forest Service roads and a portion of the Ouachita Trail, with a mix of a small amount of pavement, gravel, and single/double-track trail. Course markings include signs, colored ribbon flagging, and flour arrows, with emphasis on turns and intersections; intermediate confidence markings will be relatively rare. The full course description follows FSR roads, Ouachita Trail segments, and Highway 324 back to the Lake Sylvia area. The Kitty Run follows the same route with a short deviation onto the Ouachita Trail.
There will be at least three aid stations for the Catsmacker and two for the Kitty Run. Participants are asked to carry a water bottle and any personal snacks; aid station food will be basic. Dogs are allowed on leash. Parking at the day use area is limited; overflow parking is along the west side of Highway 324 only, and vehicles should be parked completely to the right of the white line. Cut-off for the event is six hours. An early start option is available only for those who need additional time to finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
