Castle Rock Trail Festival / liveBIG Run
The Castle Rock Trail Festival is a trail run and walk across the Town’s ridgeline trails, using Philip S. Miller Park and Ridgeline Open Space. The event offers multiple course options that range from a family obstacle run for children to an ultramarathon distance, all held on natural open space trails.
Distance options include:
- liveBIG Family Adventure Run for families with children ages 5 to 12
- Philip S. Miller 5K
- Ridgeline 10K
- Ridgeline Trail Half Marathon
- Ridgeline 50K
Race features include an event T-shirt and finisher’s medal for participants, professional chip timing with a disposable bib chip, free photo downloads after the event, and post-race refreshments. Finish line beverages include water, Gatorade and beer. Online registration closes Monday, Sept. 28; race-day registration is available and fees increase by $15 for all races except the Family Adventure Run.
The 50K has an eight hour time limit. Aid stations provide bottled water and basic first aid items, with electrolytes available at several 50K aid stations. A 10 foot by 10 foot tent with a tarp is provided as a drop bag location near the start of the second loop for the 50K. Overall and age group awards are presented in races 5K and up; age group categories are specified for each distance. Weather can vary in October and trails may be wet or muddy, and wildlife may be present on open space trails. The course reaches about 6,700 feet in elevation.
