Cardston Chase
The Cardston Chase is an annual race held the third Saturday in August, aligned with the Town of Cardston's Heritage Days. The event takes place in the river valley area with views of Chief Mountain and offers multiple distance options and age categories.
Distances offered:
- 1K kids race
- 5K
- 10K
The 1K starts at the track, goes onto the nature trail, then finishes with a clockwise lap around the track. Age categories for the kids dash are 5 & under, 6-9, and 10-12, with medals awarded to top male and female finishers in each category.
The 5K route leaves the track, follows the nature trail, ascends Main Street with an approximate 37 meter elevation gain, offers views toward the mountains and Old Chief Mountain, then descends 9th Avenue on a new running path, crosses a bypass bridge closed to traffic for the race, passes near Lee Creek Valley Golf Course, and returns via the scenic nature trail for a final lap on the track.
The 10K shares sections with the 5K and extends out toward Beazer Road with a turnaround point along Highway 501. Race packages are available for pick up at the Town of Cardston outdoor pool prior to race day and at the start line on race day. Results are posted online. Prizes go to the top male and female finishers per distance and medals are awarded for specified age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
