Cardston Chase
The Cardston Chase is an annual running event held in conjunction with the Town of Cardston's Heritage Days and staged with views of Chief Mountain. The event offers three distances and distinct kid and adult categories, with age-group medals and prizes for top finishers.
Course highlights include a start and finish at the Lions Park track/football field with an electric finish around the track, long sections on a nature trail through the river valley, and roadway stretches that pass the Lee Creek Valley Golf Course and a new running path along 9th Avenue. One segment of the 5K route includes a 121 foot (37 meter) elevation climb and panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and Old Chief Mountain. The 10K extends onto a black paved path by the bike park and uses local roads out to Beazer Road before returning.
Race logistics noted by the organizer include race package pick up at the Town of Cardston outdoor pool on the Friday before the race between noon and 8 pm, and race-day pickup at the start line. Official results are posted online at Zone4.ca. Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers for each distance; medals are awarded in specified age categories for the 1 km kids dash, 5 km and 10 km.
