Event Overview
The Capital City River Run is a multi-day sports event held in Lansing, Michigan. The 2026 edition marks the 33rd anniversary of the event, which supports the Impression 5 Science Center and its educational programming for children and families. The event schedule is divided over a weekend, with youth-focused activities on Saturday and longer distance races on Sunday.
Course Information
The routes utilize several prominent locations in the Lansing area. Participants run through Michigan Ave, Grand River Ave, the Michigan State University campus, and the Lansing River Trail. The half marathon and 5K races begin on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center and conclude on Grand Ave, passing through Adado Park in downtown Lansing. The kids' one-mile race takes place specifically on the Lansing River Trail.
Available Distances
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile chip-timed road race.
- 5K: A 3.1-mile course available for both runners and walkers.
- 1 Mile: A youth challenge for children ages 12 and under.
- Sprint: A short-distance option for younger children.
Participant Details
All participants in the Half Marathon and 5K receive a crew neck sweatshirt in one of two color options and a finisher's medal. Professional chip timing is provided for these distances. Youth participants in the kids' races receive a stainless steel water bottle, a finisher's medal, and a goodie bag. Additionally, those in the kids' races are invited to visit the Impression 5 Science Center and attend a post-event pizza party.
