Capital City River Run
The Capital City River Run is a two day running event in Lansing for September 19-20, 2026 and marks its 33rd anniversary. The event benefits Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming.
Annual race offerings include:
- Half Marathon - 13.1 Miles
- 5K Walk/Run - 5K
- Sohn Kids Races - one mile, ages 12 and under
The half marathon and 5K courses use Michigan Avenue, Grand River Avenue, the MSU campus and the Lansing River Trail, and finish on Grand Avenue near Adado Park in downtown Lansing. Both races start in front of the Lansing Center.
Children’s activities and the Sohn Kids Races are based at Impression 5 Science Center and include a one mile course on the Lansing River Trail. All kids participants receive a finishers medal and a goodie bag and are invited to spend the day at the science museum; a pizza party follows the event.
All half marathon and 5K participants receive a sweatshirt and a finishers medal. The races will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results are available during the event and online. Packet pickup takes place at Impression 5 Science Center on the day before the races and on race day at the same location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
