About the race
The Capital City River Run is an annual race event in Lansing marking its 33rd anniversary in 2026. The event benefits Impression 5 Science Center and its mission to provide children and families access to science exploration through hands-on exhibits and participatory programming. Annual competitions include a half marathon, a 5K walk/run, and Sohn Kids Races. Race timing is chip based and managed by the Michigan Running Foundation; official results are posted on Playmakers.com.
All half marathon and 5K participants receive a sweatshirt and a finishers medal. Kids race registrants receive a goodie bag, a finishers medal, and are invited to spend the day at the science museum, including a pizza party after the event. Course and venue details: the half marathon and 5K start on Michigan Avenue in front of the Lansing Center, use Michigan Avenue, Grand River Avenue, the MSU campus, and the Lansing River Trail, and finish on Grand Avenue at Adado Park in downtown Lansing. The kids one-mile race takes place on the Lansing River Trail with activities at Impression 5 Science Center. Packet pick up is scheduled at Impression 5 Science Center on the day before the main races and race day pickup is available at the Lansing Center.
