Capel 5 and Fun Run 2026
The event takes place in Capel St Mary, Ipswich, with Race HQ at the pavilion, Friars, Capel St Mary, IP9 2XS. Facilities at the pavilion include toilets and a bag drop. Additional portaloos will be available on the playing field. Food and drink will be sold during the morning with proceeds going to charity.
Parking for participants is provided in an overflow car park next to Bypass Nurseries Garden Centre on London Road, IP9 2JR, a short walk from the pavilion. A small car park is also available on the playing fields with its entrance on London Road opposite Bypass Nurseries. Car park marshals will be present and participants are asked to follow their directions and to car share where possible. The main garden centre car park is for garden centre customers only.
Race details include the following distances:
- Capel 5 - five mile race on open roads.
- Fun Run - one mile childrens route on the playing field.
The Capel 5 is open to runners aged 15 and older and is chip timed. The race is run on open roads and the wearing of any headphones or earphones including bone conducting earphones is not permitted; runners wearing them will be disqualified. The Capel 5 is included in the Suffolk Grand Prix and affiliated runners are automatically included in series scoring. The childrens Fun Run is held entirely on the playing field around a marked route; children may run alone or be accompanied by a responsible adult. All childrens participants receive a medal and a treat. Prizes are awarded across listed age and gender categories. A UKA licence number is held for the event.
