Cape Blossom Marathon
The Cape Blossom Marathon is a community-hosted running event in Kotzebue, Alaska, scheduled for 29 August 2026. It is the second year of the event and is held above the Arctic Circle.
Participants may choose between two distances:
- 26.2 miles full marathon
- 13.1 miles half marathon
The course combines dirt roads, beach, and trail. The event welcomes runners, hikers, beach combers, berry pickers, and includes a bike category for local participants. It is hosted by the community of Kotzebue, a remote town on the Northwest coast located off the road system, on Iñupiaq lands with a local tradition of distance running and athletic competition. The event is presented as a celebration of that heritage and the community’s relationship with the land.
Registration opens 29 April 2026 and closes 31 July 2026. The organizer states an entry fee of $100 with a 75% discount for local participants; RunSignUp is used as the registration platform and payment is completed through the City of Kotzebue.
