The Canyon De Chelly Ultra is a 55K running event. It takes place on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.
Course Description
The course starts at the canyon entrance. Runners travel 17 miles up Canyon De Chelly. The route passes ancient ruins, petroglyphs, and pictographs on the way to Spider Rock. Runners then go up the Bat Canyon trail. This section climbs 1,200 feet from the canyon floor to the Spider Rock overlook, which serves as the turnaround point.
The return journey follows the same path back. The terrain includes sections of sand and single track, as well as creek crossings. The first and last 2.5 miles of the course are on sand. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
