Event information
Buttermere Trail Race takes place in Buttermere Village, Cumbria on 22 March 2026. The event is organised by Fellside Events Ltd. Race HQ is in Buttermere Village, CA13 9XA. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association, permit pending, and held under UK Athletics rules. Entry limit is 200. Minimum entry age is 17. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Course
The route is a circular, single-lap trail of 20 kilometres around the shores of Buttermere and Crummock Water. The profile is undulating. The course is fully marked so navigation experience is not required. Terrain includes lakeshore trails, hard-packed rocky trails, grassy tracks and woodland singletrack. The western shoreline of Crummock Water is generally wet and rough underfoot and is described as more technical; the later sections use more hard-packed trails.
Entry and facilities
Entry fees are: Affiliated £28.00, Unaffiliated £30.00. Prices include race fees, card charges and administration; no hidden extras are listed. If the event does not sell out, entry on the day may be available for an additional £2.00. Facilities at the event include water stations, toilets and a baggage store.
