Buttermere Trail Race 2027
Buttermere Trail Race takes place on 21 March 2027 in Buttermere Village, Cumbria. The event is a single lap trail race covering 20 kilometres, following a circular route around the shores of Buttermere and Crummock Water. The route will be fully marked so no navigation experience is required.
The course is low level and undulating with a variety of off-road surfaces including lakeshore trails, hard-packed rocky trails, grassy tracks and woodland singletrack. The initial section along the western shoreline of Crummock Water is generally wetter and rougher underfoot, while the later section uses more hard packed trails. The route is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Entries require a minimum age of 17 years. Entry is limited to 200 participants; places remaining were listed as 191. Entry fees are shown as £28.00 for affiliated competitors and £30.00 for unaffiliated competitors. If the event is not sold out, entry on the day is available for an additional £2.00. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association with a permit pending and is held under UK Athletics rules.
Facilities at Race HQ in Buttermere Village CA13 9XA include water, toilets and baggage storage. There are no distance markers, no changing facilities and no showers. Entrants are asked to provide an emergency contact. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
