About the Event
The 17th Annual Butterfly 5K is held in Waynesboro, Tennessee. The event also includes a 1 Mile Fun Run for participants 12 years and under.
Event History and Purpose
The run is organized by the Butterfly Foundation. The foundation was created in October 2007 in memory of Ryleigh Meree Stegall, who developed a love of butterflies during her battle with leukemia. The purpose of the Butterfly Foundation is to provide financial assistance to families who have children with life-threatening or life-altering illnesses in Wayne County and surrounding areas.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are given for the 5K race:
- Best Overall Male and Best Overall Female each receive a $100 cash prize.
- The first 550 runners to cross the finish line will receive a finisher's medal.
- Age group trophies are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place across multiple categories for both males and females.
- Awards are also given for Masters, Grand Masters, and Wheelchair categories.
Awards are given for the 1 Mile Fun Run:
- Age group awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are given in categories for males and females aged 0-5, 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12.
Registration and Fees
All paid entrants receive an event t-shirt. Pre-registered runners are guaranteed the correct shirt size. Registration fees are: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
- $18.00 for pre-registration by May 19th.
- $25.00 for online registration after May 19th.
- Race day registration is available online only from 6:15 AM to 7:30 AM.
