17th Annual Butterfly 5K
The Butterfly 5K takes place in Waynesboro, TN on June 6, 2026. The event is organized by the Butterfly Foundation, which distributes financial assistance to families with children who have life-threatening or life-altering illnesses. As of December 31, 2025, the foundation reported $1.5 million provided to more than 459 children and their families in Wayne County and surrounding areas.

The event offers age-group awards and overall prizes. Best overall male and best overall female each receive $100. Trophies are awarded 1st through 3rd in each 5K age group and in the 1 mile fun run youth groups. The 5K age groups by male and female are 0-5, 6-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85 and over. Additional overall categories include masters and grand masters, and wheelchair awards for first male and first female.
Event amenities include T-shirts for all paid entrants, with pre-registered participants guaranteed their shirt size; if shirts run out on race day, shirts may be picked up two weeks after the event. The first 550 finishers will receive a finishers medal.
Registration fees listed are $18 for registrations completed by May 19 and $25 for online registrations after May 19. Race day registration is available online only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
