About the race
The 18th Annual Butterfly Run 5K will be held in Waynesboro, Tennessee at Waynesboro City Park on June 5, 2027. The event supports the Butterfly Foundation, created in 2007 to provide financial assistance to families with children facing life-threatening or life-altering illnesses. As of September 2026 the foundation has distributed $1.6 million to more than 473 children and their families in Wayne County and surrounding areas.

- 5K
- 1 Mile Family Fun Run
- Both 5K and 1 Mile
Both the 5K and the 1 Mile courses are USATF certified (TN21036MS and TN21037MS). All registered participants receive a race T-shirt; if T-shirts run out on race day, additional shirts will be available for pickup two weeks after the race. The first 550 finishers of the 5K receive a custom finisher medal. The top overall male and female in the 5K each receive $100 cash.
Awards are provided for 5K overall male/female, Masters (40+), GrandMasters (60+), and 1st through 3rd places in 5-year age groups from 1-5 up to 85 and over. The 1 Mile awards cover 1st through 3rd in youth age groups (0-5, 6-8, 9-10, 11-12). The event uses professional RFID chip timing. The 5K course includes some hills with grades of 6% or greater.
Free on-site parking is available in the park. Strollers are welcome at the back of the pack. Pets are not allowed unless restrained to a stroller. Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, unicycles, wagons, hoverboards and other wheeled devices are not permitted on course. Early packet pick-up will take place at Waynesboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church on June 4, 2027.
