Butterfield Blitz Backyard (May 16, 2026)
Butterfield Blitz Backyard takes place at Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park in Herriman, Utah. The event uses a 4.167-mile loop course that is 99% trail and 1% fire road, with +512 ft elevation gain per loop. The trail climbs gradually for about the first 2 miles and then descends on easy-to-follow trails that wind through dense foliage. The course is marked with pink flags, cones, and signs. Parking is free.
Timing follows the Blitz Backyard format: every loop is timed, and placement is determined first by loops completed and then by cumulative time on all completed laps. Live results show each runner's individual lap time and cumulative total. Runners must start each loop on the hour and complete the loop within the hour to receive credit. Rules prohibit artificial aid including trekking poles and do not allow pacers; slower runners must allow passes.

- 4 hours - 16.7 miles, +2,048 ft elevation
- 8 hours - 33.3 miles, +4,096 ft elevation
- 12 hours - 50 miles, +6,144 ft elevation
Awards and event details
All runners who complete at least one loop receive a finisher medal. Runners who complete 12 loops receive a leather patch beanie for the 50-mile accomplishment. The event provides timed laps, live results, on-course photos by a race photographer, aid-station snacks and Tailwind electrolyte drink, Great Harvest Bread at the 4-hour conclusion, and pizza at the 8-hour and 12-hour conclusions.
