Butterfield Blitz Backyard

Butterfield Blitz Backyard is a timed backyard ultra held at Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park in Herriman, UT, near Kennecott Mine and the Oquirrh Mountains. The event uses a 4.167 mile loop on well marked trails that is run once each hour for a set duration. Placement is determined first by loops completed and then by cumulative time on all completed laps.

The loop is mostly trail with a steady climb over the first two miles and a downhill return. Course specifics: 4.167 miles per loop, +512 ft elevation gain per loop, 99% trail and 1% fire road. Live results display individual lap times and cumulative totals during the race. Runners must complete each loop within the hour to receive credit for that lap; starting the next loop early is not permitted.

Finish line amenities include snacks and aid station provisions, locally made finisher medals for anyone completing at least one loop, a shirt, and a leather patch beanie for those completing 12 loops. Food available at the finish includes Great Harvest Bread and pizza at the conclusion of longer events. Loops are marked with pink flags, cones, and signs.
