Butterfield Blitz Backyard - Herriman, UT
Butterfield Blitz Backyard is a timed backyard ultra held at Butterfield Trailhead Regional Park in Herriman, Utah. The race uses a 4.167 mile loop with +512 ft elevation gain per lap. The surface is 99% trail and 1% fire road. The first two miles climb slowly and the second half descends through dense foliage. The course is marked with pink flags, cones, and signs.
The event offers three timed formats:
- 4 Hours - 16.7 miles, +2,048 ft elevation gain
- 8 Hours - 33.3 miles, +4,096 ft elevation gain
- 12 Hours - 50 miles, +6,144 ft elevation gain
Blitz placement is determined first by loops completed and then by cumulative lap time for runners with the same number of loops. Loops must be started on the hour and completed within the hour to receive credit. Live results and individual lap timing are provided during the race. Awards include a finisher medal for at least one loop and a leather patch beanie for completing 12 loops. Top three male and female placements are decided by distance then cumulative time.
Amenities include a well stocked finish area, snacks, Tailwind electrolyte drink, Great Harvest Bread at the 4 hour finish, pizza at the 8 and 12 hour finishes, free photos by Xotio Media, and free parking.
