Burn the Bird 5K and 10K
Burn the Bird is a Thanksgiving morning running event held on November 26, 2026 in Fargo, North Dakota. The race starts and finishes at the YMCA of the Northern Sky - Fercho Branch, 400 1st Ave S, Fargo, ND 58103. The event has been held for more than a decade and raises funds for LIVESTRONG at the YMCA to support local cancer survivors.

- 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles
- 10K Run, 6.2 miles
Registration opens September 2, 2026 and closes October 6, 2026. Published registration fees for the events are $37.00 for the standard 5K, $27.00 for the 5K category for 12 years old and under, and $43.00 for the 10K. Each registered participant receives a custom race shirt, a finisher medal, a race bib, chip timing, and finish-line refreshments.
The 5K and 10K are chip timed and results are published online, including age-group results and awards to the top three overall men and women in each distance. Packet pickup details will be posted once finalized; participants are strongly encouraged to pick up packets before race morning when available. Strollers and manual or electric wheelchairs are welcome, and the course is described as accessible with guidance for starting-area placement for mobility devices.
