Burn the Bird 5K & 10K
Burn the Bird is a Thanksgiving Day running event in Fargo, North Dakota, produced by the YMCA of the Northern Sky and SoleMOTION Race Management. The event offers chip timed 5K and 10K courses that start and finish at the Fercho YMCA. The route runs south through the Hawthorne and Clara Barton School neighborhoods; the 10K splits from the 5K at about 1.75 miles and continues to a turnaround in Lindenwood Park before returning to the Fercho YMCA.
Participants receive a custom designed T-shirt, a bib, and a custom BTB medal. Post-race provisions include fruit, muffins, hot chocolate, and hot coffee. Results are chip timed with posting on the event website and a display clock at the finish line. Awards are given to the top three men and women in each distance, and age group results are posted without a formal awards ceremony.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the Fercho YMCA and on the morning of the event at the YMCA of the Northern Sky. Online registration is listed as closed; walk-up registration is available the day before but not on race day. The race is handicap friendly; manual and electric wheelchairs are welcome and are asked to position near the back. The YMCA is running a gift card drive to support local teens and will collect gift cards from attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
