Bunion Derby 5K
The Lebanon-Laclede County Route 66 Society hosts the Route 66 Centennial Bunion Derby 5K & Fun Walk. This event honors the original 1928 "Bunion Derby," a 3,400-mile footrace from Los Angeles to New York City that used Route 66. Participants run and walk a section of the same path as the original racers, passing historic Route 66 sites in Lebanon, Missouri. These include the old Carter and Lawson Phillips Station, the Lenz Tourist Home, Wrink's Market, and the Munger Moss Motel.
The event offers a 5K distance. The top male and female finishers in each age group will receive a $50 prize. Results can be shared automatically on race day via Twitter connection. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
