About the race
The 42nd Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon is a city road race in Budapest offering multiple ways to cover the 21.1 km distance. The event includes the individual half marathon (21.097 km), two relay formats (duo and trio) that split the same total distance, and a separate 10 km race that uses the same start and finish area on a shorter route.
The programme features:
- 21.097 km individual half marathon
- 21.097 km relay for 2 (12.7 km and 8.4 km)
- 21.097 km relay for 3 (8.3 km, 7.0 km, 5.8 km)
- 10 000 m race
The course runs through central Budapest and passes several UNESCO World Heritage sites. Aid stations are placed every 3–4 km and provide water, isotonic drink and selected food items; disposal bags and separate waste containers are provided at stations and in the finish area. Official pacers are available and kilometre markers are set at every kilometre.
Entries for the individual half marathon are limited to 18 000. Individual entrants must be at least 16 years old. The event operates a 3 hour net time cut-off and a sweeper bus follows the field; participants overtaken by the bus must board it. Included with the entry are bib number, branded running shirt, finisher medal and goodie bag, net chip timing, medical service and course security.
