41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon
The 41st Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon takes place on September 6, 2026. This international event features a flat and fast course that winds through the heart of the Hungarian capital, passing several UNESCO World Heritage sites. The route covers both the Buda and Pest sides of the city, including the Lower Embankments, Margaret Island, and the Liberty Bridge. The race village and start/finish area are located at the Pázmány Péter Promenade, near the ELTE Lágymányosi Campus, which is approximately 600 meters from public transport links.
The event offers several distances and categories:
- 21.1 km (individual)
- 21.1 km Relay for 2 (12.7 km and 8.4 km sections)
- 21.1 km Relay for 3 (8.3 km, 7 km, and 5.8 km sections)
- 10 km (individual)
The half marathon distance has an age limit of 12 years and a cut-off time of 3 hours net time. Participants are organized into start zones based on their planned pace to reduce congestion. Six refreshment stations are positioned along the route, offering water, isotonic drinks, bananas, and glucose. The event provides amenities such as changing rooms, a supervised cloakroom for single bags (max 60x40x30 cm), and bicycle storage.
Registered participants receive a BIB number with chip timing, a technical T-shirt, and a finisher's medal. Self-propelled wheelchair and handbike athletes are permitted and start two minutes before the main field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
