Broad Ripple Duck Race + 5K
The Broad Ripple Duck Race + 5K takes place in Broad Ripple Village on June 6, 2026. The event includes a 5K and a fun run through the village and a rubber duck race featuring 3,000 rubber ducks launched into the Central Canal where the Monon Trail crosses the water. The duck course runs west toward a finish near the pedestrian bridge by College Avenue. Participants are encouraged to wear duck themed gear.
Children’s activities are offered on the Rainbow Bridge over the Central Canal and include face painting, arts and crafts, carnival games, and light snacks for purchase. A duck sales booth operates before the race and attendees who purchased race ducks may turn in duck race tickets to receive a souvenir duck, one per person while supplies last. Prizes for the race are gift cards from Broad Ripple merchants.
Ducks are sold in advance at local Broad Ripple events and at the event itself. Ducks are priced at $6 each or a paddling of six for $30; payment by cash, debit, or credit is accepted. Purchasers must be 18 years or older because the Duck Race is considered a gambling event and has received approval from the Indiana Gaming Commission.
