Brickyard Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon

The Brickyard Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon takes place in Columbus, Georgia, utilizing the local river and road infrastructure. The event offers multiple multisport categories including individual age group participation, relay teams, and specific weight-based divisions such as Clydesdale and Athena.

Participants can choose from the following event formats:

  • Sprint Triathlon: A 500m downstream swim, a 12 mile bike ride, and a 5k run.
  • Duathlon: A 1 mile run followed by a 12 mile bike ride and a 3.2 mile run.

The triathlon swim section is conducted in a downstream river with depths ranging from four to six feet. The start follows a time-trial format where athletes enter the water one at a time, either via a water slide or stairs.

The cycling portion is an out and back course located on Brickyard Road, characterized as flat and fast. The final running segment consists of a single loop on flat terrain. For the run, an aid station is positioned approximately 200 yards from the transition area, which participants pass twice.

Registered participants receive a medal and a t-shirt, while those in the triathlon categories are also provided with a swim cap. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various age groups and relay teams.
