Brickyard Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon, Columbus GA
The event is held in Columbus, Georgia at 801 Front Ave and offers both a sprint triathlon and a duathlon. The organizer is TriColumbusGa. Packet pick up is available Friday at Brickyard Bike Co, 507 Dillingham St, Phenix City, AL, and on race morning at transition. T shirts are not guaranteed for late registrations.
Distances include:
- Sprint triathlon: 500 m swim and 5 km run, bike course on Brickyard Road.
- Duathlon: 1 mile run, bike course on Brickyard Road, 3.2 mile run.
- Relay options available.
The swim is a 500 m downstream course with river depths around 4 to 6 feet. Entry via a water slide must be feet first; athletes may instead use the steps to the water once they cross the timing mat. Starts are conducted in a time trial format with athletes beginning one at a time.
The bike course begins and ends on Brickyard Road and is described as a flat out and back route. The run is a flat single loop; an aid station is located roughly 200 yards out of transition and is passed twice on the run course.
Awards are given by male and female categories starting under 14, then 15 to 19 in five year increments up to 70 plus, with top three overall and top three in each age group. Participants receive a medal and a shirt, and triathletes are provided a swim cap.
Event policies note there are no rain dates, no routine refunds, and that race management may alter or cancel the event for hazardous weather. Clubs may set up tents for gatherings and volunteers are managed by the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
