Brickyard Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon : Columbus, GA
The event is a combined sprint triathlon and duathlon held in Columbus, Georgia at 801 Front Ave. It includes swim, bike and run segments with separate entry options for individual and relay teams and dedicated categories for age, Clydesdale and Athena divisions.
Distances include:
- Triathlon: 500 m swim, 12 mile bike, 5 km run
- Duathlon: 1 mile run, 12 mile bike, 3.2 mile run
The swim is a 500 m downstream start in the river with reported depths around 4–6 ft, shallower near shore. Slide entries into the water must be feet first; use of steps to the water’s edge is permitted once athletes cross the timing mat. Swim starts are conducted in a time-trial format with athletes starting individually.
The bike course is an out-and-back beginning and ending on Brickyard Road and is described as flat. The run for the triathlon is a single flat 1-loop course. An aid station is located about 200 yards from transition and is passed twice on the run.
Awards are given by male/female overall and age-group categories, with medals and t-shirts for participants; triathletes receive swim caps. The organizer may modify or cancel the event for hazardous weather; there are no routine refunds although deferrals may be considered with documentation.
