Breffni Challenge 2026 : Pop Up Races
Breffni Challenge 2026 takes place in Cavan on Saturday 1 August 2026. The event marks the 25th year of the Breffni three province challenge and includes both cycling and running events across several distances. Distances offered include:
- 100 km cycle
- 50 km cycle
- 30 km cycle
- Half marathon
- 10K run
- 7K run
- 5K run
Bespoke t-shirts and medals have been redesigned for this edition. Finishers receive a bespoke medal. Tea, coffee and sandwiches are provided at no cost to participants. Live music is scheduled on the Market Square, and later a four course buffet dinner will be available in the Breffni Arms Hotel. Live music is also planned in pubs across the town that evening. Accommodation options are available for visitors.
Charitable recipients for this edition are three organisations: Friends of St. Lukes Oncology, National Breast Cancer Research Institute Galway, and Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care Fund. The event includes a mix of cycling and running formats and offers both shorter and longer distance options across the listed categories.
