Breaking Free 5K and Color Run
The Breaking Free 5K and Color Run is a community event held in Evergreen Municipal Park at 1001 Municipal Park Dr., Evergreen, AL 36401, in May 2027. The event combines a timed 5K course, a family oriented 1 Mile Fun Run, and a virtual race option. Reid State students receive complimentary registration through grant support.

Age and safety guidelines specify that participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and participants under 18 must have a signed parent or guardian waiver. The event includes non toxic colored powder. Participation in color zones is discouraged for children under five and for individuals with respiratory sensitivities.
Registration categories and fees noted by the organizer include a paid Fun Run fee of $10, a 12 and under rate of $5 when accompanied by a paid adult, a virtual race fee of $25, and a complimentary student run entry. To receive an event t shirt in time for race day, registrations must meet the organizer's stated shirt deadline.
